Guards and the cell search

Looking for codes? Here is the current status.
A cell search in Punch to Escape is a countdown, not a fight. The red bar tells you to get back to your cell. The warden warning is a second, different bar.
Exact counts, creation/update timestamps and pass descriptions below are single-source Roblox records, captured 30 Oct 2026 at 04:08–04:09 UTC. Video prices and run totals are single-source historical examples from the named creator; they are not current price lists. Independent recordings corroborate the gameplay loop and room order. A Roblox creation timestamp does not establish a public launch date.
What the red bar says
In zyzula 2's 24 Oct 2026 playthrough, the top of the screen turns into CELL SEARCH and Get back to your cell, with a second line that a guard is coming. The longest countdown I can point at starts at 0:20. Other moments in that video and in RobloMine's run start mid-count, at 0:18 or lower. I read that as a live timer, not a fixed bar you can memorize.

What to do with those seconds
- Stop punching. The timer is the priority.
- Walk all the way into the cell. Standing in the doorway is a guess I will not bless.
- Wait through the line The guard is checking. A few seconds of leftover timer still show during that line.
- Go back to work only after the warning bar itself is gone.

The warden is a different warning
Later, inside the Warden's Office, the text changes. First: The Warden is waking up, get out of the Warden's Office, with a countdown that shows 8.5 seconds in the sampled frame (a moment in that run, not a universal duration). Then: The Warden is awake, don't stand in the Warden's Office. RobloMine's run shows the same pair of lines. A third sentence, You're in his sight, appears only in a community wiki retelling. I am leaving that sentence out of the steps.

Lives, and the gap I will not fill
A heart count sits by the timer in these recordings, often at 1. The ending screen has a Lives left row. The Extra Life pass says you start a run with 2 lives. What a failed search actually takes from you — cash, a life, or a reset — is not shown as a complete sequence in the three long videos I used. I am leaving the punishment blank rather than inventing a percent.

Questions
How long is a cell search?
The longest countdown on the recordings starts at 20 seconds. Other clips join the timer already running.
Do I hide anywhere?
The on-screen line says get back to your cell. I do not have a safe distance or a side room to recommend.
What happens if I am caught?
The recordings do not show a full caught sequence. I am not publishing a penalty.
